1) What is GR, exactly?

2) From what you just told me, the numbers on the Compressor that I screen shot for you are about right?


1. It stands for Gain Reduction. It's in the article I have linked you above.

2. I honestly don't know, numbers on a photo don't produce a sound so I can listen to it and actually know if it's wrong or right :P

But usually for peaks you can go below 5ms and more than 8:1 ratio, for gentle compression i usually play at around ~30ms or so and 4:1,
but again it depends on the sound itself :)
