I present you my complete project
« on: July 29, 2015, 08:00:02 AM »
Hello,

I made a dance song (some chill vibed dubtechno). You can listen to the mix here:

https://soundcloud.com/manducator/shoplifter-mix

Download of the mix is here:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/jqbin4t0aq229e8/Shoplifter+mix.wav

The loudness of the song isn't comparable to commercial songs because this is the version that still has to be mastered. So turn up the volume to enjoy. :)

I took the effort to write down the mixing process.

Don't be blinded by the type of song, most guidelines about mixing are the same for other genres too.

I created the song in FL Studio 11 and the only third party plugin I used is Reveal Sound's Spire vsti.

You can download the project of the unmixed song here:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/nb91a612jqg47ay/Shoplifter+%28FL+Studio+11+Project%29.zip

For those who don't use FL Studio and/or Spire, you can download all 16 unmixed stems here:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/rabvoepkhzd94je/All+Tracks.part1.rar
http://www.mediafire.com/download/q5gsydo2hhg2hg5/All+Tracks.part2.rar

Here you can download my 32-page mixing guide specific to this song:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/31jmmd6a4bao121/Mixing+of+Shoplifter.pdf

Here are the links to 2 videos that are a great addition to my pdf:

I ripped the HD version of those videos and added a wav of pink noise in this download:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/nt19etr7l5z2un5/Extra.part1.rar
http://www.mediafire.com/download/tgsm7e1x13p5q7d/Extra.part2.rar

If this is helpful to anyone, let me know and I will write a mastering pdf for this song too.

Any comment is welcome, tell me what you like and what you don't like. I hope there are others who are willing to share some knowledge too.

Cheers,
Dirk

Thank you for your great share.
+1 karma added.

Is your guide/pdf uploaded anywhere else?

I could upload it on my blog giving you credit for everything,
including a link to your soundcloud. With your permission of course.

But if google had already crawled the content from somewhere else before I uploaded it
then it would think I copy-paste posts, in this case I don't think it's a good idea.

And here is the mastered version:

You can download it here:

I will write a mastering guide about this song if there's more interest for it.

Cheers,
Dirk

It seems there's not much interest, but here's my mastering document anyway:

It's because we've got no visitors here my dear manducator ;/
At least ... yet! haha

I will finish a mix, take a nap and check it out!
